It’s Time To Retire Number 32 of the Toronto Rock

I do not get the Toronto Rock these days. The greatest player to ever play for Toronto in my opinion was number 32 Jim Veltman.

Jim was a superstar in the game of lacrosse. He won 8 NLL chanpionships. 3 with Buffalo and 5 with Toronto. He was the long time captain and leader of the Rock. He is a member of the NLL hall of fame. He is also the all time NLL lose ball leader.

I got to know Jim on and off the floor. One of the reasons I have the love of lacrosse I do is because of Jim Veltman.  I first got to know him by going to Toronto Rock fan events. I was also the director for the Markham Minor Lacrosse Assocation and Jim was one of our rep team coaches at the time. Jim taught me a lot about the game. I can remember in coaches clinics taking passes from Jim. What a teacher and also one of the most humble people in sports I have met.

I do not know what is going on with the Toronto Rock and why they will not add Jim Veltman’s number to the retired list that includes two other Rock greats Bob Watson and Colin Doyle. Jim deserves to be up there now!

I have decided I will not go to another lacrosse game until the Toronto Rock do the right thing and raise number 32 to the rafters and retire the number of it’s greatest leader and star. The time is now.
