Most people who know me realize that I am a Montreal Canadiens Fan. Yes i know live in Toronto but the Habs are still my team. They have the richest history in the NHL.

I want to share a story that is really interessting. The story surrounds the Habs, some of my favorite players and the reason I started autograph collecting.

In 1975 my late father Bruce Cairns brough thos young boy home a program from the Montreal Childrens Hospital Sports Dinner. The program was signed by the legendary number 4 Jean Beliveau. This program started a hobby i am still in today.

In 1971 their was this young goalie who came up and stole the Stanley Cup. He played 6 games in the regular season and then the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs defeating the Chicago Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup. He is the only player to ever win the Conn Smythe Award (Playoff MVP) before winning the Calder (Rookie of the Year). He won game 8 in 1972 for Canada against the Russians. This man won 5 Vezina Trophies and 6 Stanley Cups. He played in a 5 all star games. This goalie has had his number retired in Montreal and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. Who is he you ask – the great number 29 Ken Dryden.

Ken Dryden was my favorite players as a young boy growing up in Montreal. I just loved watching him play.

So let’s go back to reasons I belive in things happening for a reason. The great Jean Beliveau died on my father’s birthday 4 years ago. To add to it all even more; something I did not realize till this year; Ken Dryden was born on August the 8th – My wedding day.

Things do happen for a reason. I believe all this happened for a reason.
